Rowena Kasprowicz is a Lecturer in Second Language Education, Institute of Education, University of Reading.

Rowena’s research focusses on instructed foreign language learning by young learners, including the effectiveness of explicit instruction for grammar teaching and learning, the role of explicit knowledge in learning, how differences between individual learners mediate the effectiveness of instruction, and the role of technology in language learning.

Rowena has also taught German as a foreign language in primary schools in Yorkshire and is a member of the project team for the OASIS (Open Accessible Summaries In Language Studies) initiative, which aims to make research findings on language learning and teaching available and accessible to a wide audience.

Rowena’s recent work on the Gaming Grammar project explores the development and use of innovative, digital game-based techniques for grammar learning in the classroom.
